Building connections and fostering growth.

Founder’s Story

From Washington, DC to the NFL to Commercial Real Estate

Malcolm Johnson didn’t take the typical path to becoming a real estate principal, and that’s precisely the point.

After graduating from Notre Dame and spending three seasons in the NFL, Malcolm transitioned into finance, earning his MBA from Carnegie Mellon and building a 15-year career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and JPMorgan. Alongside the boardrooms and balance sheets, he was quietly acquiring and managing small apartment buildings in underserved communities, bringing institutional discipline to places like his native Northeast Washington, DC.

In 2021, he founded Langdon Park Capital with a vision to prove that smart, risk-adjusted investing and social impact are not mutually exclusive. Today, LPC manages over $165 million in assets and focuses on high-growth, historically underserved urban markets, creating value for investors while preserving affordability, dignity and opportunity for residents.

Malcolm’s journey from the locker room to Wall Street to leading his own firm isn’t just a story of professional reinvention. It’s a blueprint for what’s possible when capital is deployed by people who understand both the numbers and the neighborhoods.
